March, 2019 Reading List

Reading evokes in me a sense of adventure and liveliness unlike anything else in the world. It brought me into the world in elementary school when I began by reading Harry Potter. I dove into Middle Earth in Jr. High where I travelled with Bilbo Baggins and Gandalf. High School brought with it a love for Eragon and dragons. College helped me begin to explore reading as a mode for learning as well as adventuring. Bird by Bird by Anne Lamont took me to a place where writing became an everyday part of my life. I read her in college and went through two copies of that book learning about writing and life. Since that time, Jon Acuff, Tim Ferris, Daniel Pink, Malcolm Gladwell, Maya Angelou, Michael Eric Dyson, Cornel West, and many other accompany me through life. I am asked often about the books I read. I decided to publish my lists each month. In this post, your will find my March reading list. I hope you find yourself immersed in these volumes in the same way I have found myself enthralled time after time.

  1. We Were Eight Year In Power by Ta-Nehisi Coates

  2. The New Jim Crow by Michele Alexander and Cornel West

  3. The Autobiography of Malcolm X by Malcolm X and Alex Haley
